Itinerary
Day 1: Bergen
Arrival in Bergen which is Norway's second largest city and the only city in the world to be surrounded by 7 mountains and 7 fjords. Bergen offers the best starting point to start your adventure in the Norwegian fjords. The city is rich in attraction: stroll along the Hanseatic port of Bryggen— an UNESCO World Heritage site— and explore the vibrant fish and flower market, take the Fløibanen funicular to go up to Mont Fløyen (320 m above sea level), where you can enjoy panoramic views, go for a scenic hike, or relax with a coffee. Don’t forget to visit Troldhaugen (the former home of Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg and his wife Nina Grieg), the Bergen Aquarium and Gamle Bergen (the open-air museum of old Bergen).

Day 2: Bergen – Balestrand (approx. 190 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. You will drive north-east from Bergen, via Voss and across the Vika mountains. On the road, you can make a small detour to Steinsdalsfossen, a waterfall where you can walk behind the waterfall without getting wet. After a short ferry crossing (not included) on the Sognefjord, Norway’s longest and deepest fjord (204 kilometres inland from the coast north of Bergen), you will arrive in Balestrand, a charming, picturesque village close to the fjord.

Day 3: Balestrand
Breakfast at the hotel. Today, you will go on a guided excursion through the Norwegian fjords’ region by boat, along the Fjærlandsfjord, one of Norway's most beautiful fjord arms. Steep, forested mountains surround this rather narrow fjord, which leads to Fjærland and the Jostedal glacier. There a bus will bring you to visit the Norwegian Glacier Museum to learn more about glaciers. Enjoy the peace and quiet of this idyllic village before the journey back to Balestrand by boat. Please note that this excursion is not available every day.

Day 4: Balestrand – Geiranger (approx. 260 km)
Breakfast at the hotel. You continue your journey north, via Stryn, before heading east towards Lunde and Geiranger. From here onwards, get your camera ready to capture these breathtaking surroundings, worthy of the most beautiful postcards. Don’t hesitate to stop in Loen, a small village located at the innermost point of the Nordfjord. This peaceful area is encircled by towering mountains, glacial scenery, and deep fjord waters. From Loen, you can ride one of the steepest cable cars up to Mount Hoven, rising 1,011 m above sea level (not included). Afterwards, resume your trip to Geiranger, another village by Geirangerfjord —added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2005. This iconic fjord is renowned for its dramatic beauty, with cascading waterfalls and steep, verdant hillsides creating a truly breathtaking landscape.

This road has 11 twists and turns, and its highest point is 858 metres above sea level. The best way to describe it is as a dramatic, exciting and ultimate experience of nature. Be aware that the road is not open all the time. From Åndalsnes, the tour continues north across Langfjord to Molde (ferry not included), you will then drive on the "Atlantic Route", a unique stretch of road which leads you all the way to the very edge of the ocean, to arrive on the island of Averøy.

Today, it continues to be a place of coronation, where the kings of Norway from Harald of Hårfagre (10th century BC) to King Harald V (1991-) have been crowned and blessed. Don't miss: Nidaros Cathedral, built over the tomb of St. Olav, the Archbishop's Palace, the oldest secular building in Scandinavia, Kristiansten Fortress, Monk's Island, Trøndelag Open Air Museum and Stiftsgården — the royal residence in Trondheim.
