Welcome to an Arctic adventure! Despite being at the same latitude as Siberia and Alaska, the influence of the Gulf Stream creates the longest ice-free passage on the polar coast. This entire tour takes place beyond the Arctic Circle, enhancing your chances of witnessing the Northern Lights. During your stay, you can choose from a variety of activities, such as dog sledding, experiencing Sami life, or embarking on a hunt for the Northern Lights.

Itinerary

Arrival at Tromsø airport and transfer (not included) to your hotel. Enjoy a unique Arctic getaway in Tromsø, where vibrant city life blends seamlessly with breathtaking nature, with steep mountains, beautiful fjords and snow-covered landscapes. You’re free to explore the city. Don’t miss the Polar Museum, the Northern Lights Planetarium and the University Museum.

Accommodation in the center of Tromsø 3*.

Day 2: Cable car & Northern Lights chase

Breakfast at the hotel. We would suggest you book a dogsledding tour through the gorgeous mountain landscape of Kvaløya-Island. Otherwise, you can enjoy the city and  take the Fjellheisen cable car to the top of Mount Storsteinen. The view over the island of Tromsø and the surrounding mountains is spectacular! In the evening, you’ll meet with a local guide who will drive around Tromsø region in the hope of observing a natural miracle - the Northern Lights. While waiting to reach the best spots, you'll watch a film about the Northern Lights, both the science and myths to understand what you're about to experience.

Accommodation in the center of Tromsø 3*.

Day 3: Tromsø and cruise on the Coastal Express

Breakfast at the hotel. A day entirely at your disposal to try a new adventure – for example a visit to a reindeer farm, or a guided tour of the Arctic capital – before boarding for your next adventure aboard the Hurtigruten Coastal Express, for a beautiful cruise along the spectacular Norwegian coast. In order to respect the Kirkenes coastline, the Hurtigruten ship will remain at a distance from it, while maintaining contact with the rest of the Norwegian coastline. Departure from Tromsø at 18:30.

Dinner and overnight aboard the Coastal Express in an outside cabin (not specified).

Day 4: To the North Cape

05:15 – Arrival at Hammerfest, which was the first town in Norway to be equipped with electric street lighting. After a short stop, your journey continues towards Honningsvåg, further north. Breakfast on board the Coastal Express.
11:45 – Arrive in Honningsvåg and departure for an excursion to the North Cape. This wilderness is windswept and the cliffs rise spectacularly to 300 metres above sea level.

The cruise continues to Kirkenes, 10km from the Russian border.

Dinner and overnight aboard the Coastal Express in an outside cabin (not specified).

Day 5: King crab fishing safari and Ice Hotel

Breakfast on board the Coastal Express. During the night, the ship continues sailing eastwards along the Varanger Peninsula, passing Båtsfjord and Vardø. Arrival in Kirkenes in the morning. This fascinating little town offers a taste of life in this remote part of Norway. Transfer (included) to your hotel, completely made of snow. In the afternoon, welcome by a local fisherman. You’ll be equipped with warm clothes, boots and mittens, before setting off to catch king crabs for your meal. King crab is a must-try in the North, where the Arctic waters provide some of the freshest and most flavourful crab in the world. After the activity, you will be transferred back to your hotel.

Dinner and accommodation at Snowhotel 365 (ice room) in Kirkenes.

Day 6: Departure from Norway

Breakfast at the hotel. Departure from Kirkenes according to your own flight itinerary (transfer not included).

Local tip

Tromsø's rich history has earned it two nicknames. The first is the "Paris of the North" due to the numerous trade relations with France during the 19th century and the number of cafes and bars. The second is the "Gateway to the Arctic" because for many decades, this city was the heart of Arctic hunting and the starting point for the most legendary expeditions.
