Head to the far north with this tour in Swedish Lapland, in the heart of the mining town of Kiruna. Enjoy Lapland's nature activities, including great forests, wildlife and aurora borealis viewing, weather permitting.

Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kiruna

Arrival in Kiruna airport (flight not included). Meeting with your tour guide (English or language dependant on the client), who will be with you throughout the journey. Transfer by coach to your hotel in the city centre. Lunch on your own (not included)
Dinner and accommodation in Kiruna.


Day 2: Sami lifestyle, Ice Hotel and Northern lights hunt

Scandinavian breakfast. Transfer to Jukkasjärvi. Visit of a traditional Sami camp, where you can learn more about Sami culture and their way of life. Traditional lunch in a lavvu. Short walk to the Ice Hotel, a magnificent hotel carved entirely from ice each year, open to the public until it melts in the spring. Visit of the hotel, then you will have some free time in its ice bar. In the early evening, set off on an excursion in search of the Northern Lights, driving a snowmobile! (2 people per snowmobile) Dinner during the excursion, then return to the camp. Transfer back to your hotel in the city center.

Day 3: Moose safari

Scandinavian breakfast. Discover Sweden's most iconic animal: the moose. Accompanied by an English-speaking guide, you will venture into the heart of the surrounding forests in search of this mythical animal. Lunch is included during the excursion. Return to the city and free time at the end of the day. Take advantage of this evening for a short walk after dinner; perhaps you will be lucky enough to see the Northern Lights from the city that night?

Day 4: Mine tour and dog-sledding

Scandinavian breakfast. Departure by bus for a private tour of the Kiruna mine (approximately 3 hours): a descent to 540 metres below ground to discover the development and impact of this iron mine on the city. Return to the city and lunch in a restaurant. Free afternoon. In the early evening, departure for a dog-sledding excursion in search of the Northern Lights. After approximately 2-3 hours, return to the city.

Day 5: Departure from Kiruna

Scandinavian breakfast. Free lunch (not included). Transfer to the airport by coach, with help from your local guide.

Local tip

To travel from Stockholm to Kiruna, you can also take a night train. It allows you to admire the beautiful landscapes and it's a good thing for the environment!
